'Tis the season for... waste? It isn't the most wonderful time of the year for our planet, so why not turn waste into something useful.
In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to dye socks using local ingredients and food waste that you can gift to a loved one or keep for your own feet!
Communitea, where the workshop will take place is a vegetarian cafe by day and events space by night. The space is a cozy, vibrant and community hub in the heart of South Norwood.
What you can expect at the workshop:
Experiment with crumbling, scrunching and twisting the fabric to create patterns
Preparing fabric with a safe household mordant
Extracting colour from avocado pits and turmeric
Documenting your dyeing process in a notebook
Unpicking fabric to reveal results
Enjoy festive veggie nibbles, hot drinks and good music
All materials and tools will be provided including 1 pair of 100% cotton socks.
But wait... there's more...
If you are gifting your creation, don't forget to wrap it! A sustainable gift wrapping service provided by a wonderful local crafter will be available at the end of the class for a small fee
